Tourist/visitor visa requirements
Applicants who wish to come to the UK for the purposes of visiting will need to satisfy the following requirements:
· You are 18 or over; and
· Prove to the entry clearance officer that you only intend to remain for up to a maximum of six months(up to 12 months if you are accompanying an academic visitor); and
· Prove that you will have enough money to support yourself and any dependants throughout the duration of your stay without recourse to public funds; and
· You can meet the cost of an onward journey; and
· Show that you intend to the leave the UK at the end of your permitted stay.
Applicants must also show that:
· They will not take up employment or establish themselves in business
· They will not produce goods/services
· Do not intend to get married or form a civil partnership
· Do not intend to receive private medical treatment
Documents required
Applicants can provide the following evidence in support of their application (guidance only and non exhaustive list)
· If employed , letter from employer confirming absence of leave
· Bank statements (over several months)
· If married, marriage certificate (to establish social ties to the country from which you are travelling)
· If you have children, birth certificates
· Evidence of any savings or property
· If student, evidence from school/college/university of your studies
Applicants granted a visa will be allowed to enter the UK provided there have been no changes in their circumstances. Applicants granted less than 6 months leave to enter can apply to extend their leave (up to a maximum of 6 months including their existing leave). The length of leave will be endorsed in the applicant’s passport. Applicants will need to apply on form FLR (O) to extend any leave
